HOME CHURCH FAITH ACTIONS for HOLY WEEK
A reflection by Patricia Carroll on the Seven Last Words
We know we cannot take part in the blessing of Palms this Sunday, but you could display a branch from your garden or your palm from last year on a window to witness to your faith and proclaim that Jesus is the One who Comes into our lives.
We cannot gather to remember the night on which He died and gave his life for us, but we can get together and share a simple meal together, remembering that Jesus said ‘Do this in memory of me.’ At this meal we can take time to bless bread and pray ‘Blessed are you Lord God of all creation….’
At 3pm you could take time to be still and place a cross on or near your window, remembering this is the hour at which he died.
This is supposed to be an empty waiting day. If you have a garden you could sit in it and remember that He is in the tomb or you could go for a walk in a park and imagine that you are looking for Him.
Light a candle to connect with the Paschal Candle, the reminder to all Christians that Jesus is Risen, display in a prominent place. You could also make an Easter Garden remembering that the stone was rolled away.
