Rosary Meditation 17th May – They began to speak in tongues as the Spirit enabled them
As we meditate on the coming of the Holy Spirit, I invite you to focus on how the Spirit enabled the disciples…….
As the disciples moved out of the room where they had been praying the went out to speak to the crowd about the Good News of Jesus.
They were able to communicate with a variety of people from all parts of the known world.
In todays’ image you can see that the disciples with Mary the mother of Jesus and Mary Magdalene are not praying in an inward circle where the focus is themselves.
Here there is an outward movement to their prayer, its as if they are getting readied by the Spirit to go out there and speak to all kinds of people in all kinds of places.
And it’s the same for us too, our prayer should lead us to communicate the Good News to others.
In our modern world we will need to be able to speak all kinds of languages.
For some we will need to speak the language of compassion and tell them about the Good News of God’s mercy.
For others we will need to speak the language of challenge and communicate how the Good News calls us to live a different life.
For others we will need to speak the language of healing and communicate how the Good News of Jesus reaches out to every person with healing and strength.
As you pray your rosary think about all those you are called to share the Good News with and ask Mary to walk with you as you try communicate the goodness of God.
