Rosary Meditation – 16 May – All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit

Rosary Meditation – 16 May – All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit

Rosary Meditation Acts 2:4 – 16th May All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit

Today we are meditating on the third Glorious mystery of the rosary – The coming of the Holy Spirit

The image for today is very dramatic, we can see the disciples gathered in a circle for prayer in the Upper Room where they had been hiding.
The presence of the Spirit is signified by a dramatic circle of flame.
The Spirit fills the whole room and every person in it.
We know that this changed the disciples, and they flung open the windows to let the fresh air and the daylight in.
The ran out into the courtyard and began to share the Good News.

This reminds me of the entrance antiphon for the feast of Pentecost – spiritus replevit…. The Spirit of the Lord fills the whole world.
In this week when the Church is focusing on Laudato Si we can imagine how the Lord fills the earth with his Spirit until the end of time, hovering over the waters and giving life to every creature and every human being.
We can also remember that we are baptised into the fullness of the Holy Spirit, we ourselves are literally filled with the Spirit of the Lord.
We are made messengers of the Spirit at our Confirmation, so that we too can go out into the streets and share the Good News with those who need to know the Lord is very close to us in these times.
